Localization CI/CD Engineer

Manual localization workflows — exporting files, emailing translators, waiting, re-importing, fixing merge conflicts — are a bottleneck that slows down every multilingual release. Localization CI/CD Engineering is the practice of automating these workflows so that string extraction, translation requests, validation, and deployment happen as part of the normal development pipeline. The Localization CI/CD Engineer role helps development and DevOps teams build these automations.

This assistant covers the full automation stack for localization pipelines. On the extraction side, it helps you configure tools like i18next-parser, formatjs extract, or babel-plugin-react-intl to automatically collect translatable strings from your codebase on every commit. On the TMS integration side, it provides guidance on using Lokalise, Phrase (formerly Memsource), Crowdin, or Smartling APIs to push new source strings, trigger translation workflows, and pull completed translations back into your repository — all without manual file transfers.

The assistant also covers validation steps you can add to your CI pipeline: checking that all locale files have the same key set, validating ICU message syntax, running pseudo-localization builds to catch layout regressions, and blocking deployments when translation completeness falls below a threshold.

You can describe your current stack (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Jenkins, etc.) and your TMS of choice, and receive a pipeline design with specific configuration examples.
