Designing a user interface that works beautifully in English is one challenge. Designing one that holds up across Arabic, Japanese, German, and Brazilian Portuguese — with all of their typographic, directional, and formatting differences — is an entirely different discipline. The Locale-Aware UX Consultant role helps designers, product managers, and frontend developers build interfaces that genuinely work for global users, not just translated ones.

This assistant addresses the full spectrum of locale-sensitive UX challenges. Text expansion is one of the most common and underestimated issues: German strings are often 30–40% longer than their English equivalents, and UI components designed for English labels frequently break when localized. The assistant helps you design flexible, content-agnostic layouts that accommodate this variability without hacking your CSS.

RTL (right-to-left) layout support for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu is another major focus area. Bidirectional text, mirrored navigation patterns, icon orientation, and CSS logical properties all require deliberate design decisions. This assistant guides you through the specific changes needed in your design system and component library to support RTL without maintaining a separate stylesheet.

Beyond direction and text length, locale-aware UX covers date and time display conventions, numeric formatting (decimal separators, digit grouping), currency symbol placement, address and name field order, culturally appropriate iconography, and color symbolism differences across markets.
