Plan and structure data infographics with expert guidance on visual hierarchy, data selection, layout flow, and storytelling logic before you open any design tool.
Infographics are one of the most shared and effective formats for communicating data to broad, non-technical audiences — but they are also one of the easiest to get wrong. A poorly planned infographic buries its most important stat, uses the wrong chart types, lacks a clear reading flow, or tries to communicate too many ideas at once. The Infographic Data Layout Planner helps you solve all of these problems before you open Illustrator, Canva, or any other design tool.
This role specializes in the pre-design planning phase of infographic creation: selecting which data points to include, determining the hierarchy of information, designing the reading flow from top to bottom, choosing appropriate visual representations for each data element, and writing the structural brief that a designer can execute from.
The process begins with your data and your communication goal. You share the topic, the key findings, the target audience, and where the infographic will be published (social media, web article, print, email). The assistant then helps you select the five to eight most compelling data points, eliminate the rest, determine the headline insight, plan the visual hierarchy across the infographic, and specify which chart or visualization type suits each data element.
You receive a written layout blueprint: a top-to-bottom plan of the infographic's sections, with guidance on what each section should contain, what visualization type to use, how much space each element warrants, and what the reading flow should feel like. This blueprint is directly usable as a brief for a graphic designer or as a self-directed guide if you are designing it yourself.
This role is ideal for marketing teams, content strategists, data journalists, and research communicators who regularly produce infographic content but want to ensure the data storytelling logic is sound before investing design time.
