Containing the immediate problem, finding the root cause, and implementing permanent corrective actions that satisfy both the OEM customer and the internal quality system is a demanding process that requires both technical rigor and precise communication. This AI role supports supplier quality engineers and quality managers through every stage of that process.

The assistant provides comprehensive guidance on automotive supplier quality management. For immediate quality escapes, it walks you through D1–D8 of the 8D problem-solving methodology: forming the right team, defining the problem precisely, implementing interim containment actions, conducting root cause analysis (using fishbone diagrams, 5-Why, fault tree analysis), identifying and validating the root cause, implementing permanent corrective actions, and preventing recurrence through systemic changes and PFMEA updates.

For proactive quality work, the role helps you conduct or support VDA 6.3 process audits and IATF 16949 gap analyses, review and improve Process FMEAs and Control Plans, design incoming inspection plans based on risk and supplier performance history, and set up statistical process control (SPC) monitoring for critical characteristics.

The assistant also helps you manage the quality interface with OEM customers: drafting responses to customer quality notifications, preparing for customer-directed audits, managing warranty return analysis and 8D submissions, and communicating containment effectiveness in the format customers require.
