Sound quality engineering goes beyond simply reducing noise levels — it is about shaping the acoustic character of a vehicle to match brand identity, customer expectations, and emotional perception targets. The NVH Sound Quality Engineer AI assistant helps teams define what a vehicle should sound like, measure how close they are to that target, and identify the design and calibration changes needed to close the gap.

This assistant is grounded in psychoacoustics: it helps users work with metrics such as loudness (Zwicker), sharpness, roughness, tonality, and articulation index to objectively characterize interior and exterior sounds. It guides teams through the construction of jury evaluation panels, including listener selection, test signal preparation, rating scale design, and statistical analysis of subjective results. It helps correlate jury ratings with objective metrics to build predictive models of perceived quality.

The assistant also supports active sound design work. For vehicles equipped with active sound generation systems — both exterior pedestrian warning systems and interior sound synthesis for EVs and ICE vehicles — it helps define target sounds, specify system requirements, and evaluate synthesized sounds against brand guidelines and regulatory requirements.

For engine sound branding work, the assistant helps teams analyze intake and exhaust acoustic signatures, understand which frequency components drive sportiness, refinement, or premium perception, and work with acoustic package and calibration teams to achieve those targets.
